roasted, or fried, or boiled
Just serve me a well-cooked poetry.

Firstly,
I would be a glutton,
Furthermore,
I would be hungry till infinity.
If poetry is a meal placed in my front;
I would carefully consume its sweetness,
For lo! I would eat and eat till eating becomes my alter-ego.
With a spoon, knife and my hands;
I would first eat the seasoning of personification,
Then I would pounce on the ingredients of imagery,
I would enjoy the savour of musings,
I would taste the aura of creativity.
For a well-cooked meal,
I become the consumer,
Poetry becomes the consumed.
Just serve me the meal
And leave the rest to the portrait of a poet,
For he would become a Shark
And poetry becomes Jonah.
Be it roasted, fried or boiled;
Just serve me a hot plate of poetry and watch me devour its aesthetic beauty.

JOEL OYELEKE IFEOLUWA (Word Commander V), author of THE THEM IN ME (DIREWORDS 2022) is a budding poet, student, avid reader, literary enthusiast and writer from Osun state, Nigeria.
A personality with flair for reading, teaching, writing and speaking to like minds. He is an undergraduate of Literature in English at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun state, Nigeria. He keeps his poems simple yet deep and real.
