Introducing: The Chapbook Contest:

More Information, Guidelines, Rules and Regulations.

Welcome to our prestigious poetry chapbook contest, where we celebrate the art of poetry and provide a platform for emerging poets to showcase their talent. This contest is organized by our literary platform with the aim of fostering creativity and promoting aspiring poets. Read on to learn more about the rules and regulations that will guide the competition.

1. Eligibility:

   – The contest is open to African poets, regardless of age or nationality.

   – Both experienced and novice poets are welcome to participate.

2. Submission Guidelines:

   – Each poet is allowed to submit only one chapbook manuscript.

   – The chapbook should consist of a collection of poems, either connected thematically or in any other creative way.

   – The manuscript must be written in English.

   – Poets are required to submit their work in electronic format, preferably as a Doc or Docx document.

   – The manuscript should be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

   – We are strictly against AI generated poems and we would use our AI track back software to test manuscripts. If 1/25 poems is confirmed to be written by AI, it is an automatic rejection. Don’t test us!

3. Formatting:

   – The chapbook manuscript should not exceed a total of 25 pages, excluding the title page.

   –  Leave out the author’s bio, introduction, blurb, acknowledgment and foreword. All would be required and added after your manuscript has been accepted.

   – The title page must be the first page.

   – Poems within the manuscript should be single-spaced and written in a legible font.

   – Each poem should begin on a new page.

4. Shortlisting:

   – Our panel of judges will meticulously review all submitted chapbooks.

   – The judges will shortlist ten manuscripts based on their creativity, originality, and artistic merit.

   – The shortlisted poets will be notified via email and announced on our platform.

5. Finalists and Prizes:

   – From the shortlisted manuscripts, there will be a shortlist of ten, while three poets will be selected as the final winners.

   – The final three poets will have ta split in the $100 cash prize and will have their chapbooks published professionally and promoted.

   – Just as we have done in the past, the overall winner of the contest will be privileged to join our team and work with us in the reading and reviewing for our upcoming grand poetry contest.

   – The winning chapbooks will be made available for download and free promotion through our platform.

   – Additionally, the longlist of ten poets will have the opportunity to coauthor an anthology centered around their chosen theme. If they so wish.

6. Copyright and Ownership:

   – Each poet retains the copyright to their own work.

   – By participating in the contest, poets grant our literary platform the right to publish and promote their chapbook for the purposes of the competition.

7. Deadline and Submission:

   – Submissions will be accepted from September 1st 2023 through September 30, 2023. Any submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
