Poem by: Fathiah Olaigbe
Pouted Wolf
I prefer to hide my face behind the bars
and smirk my cheeks at the appearance of
a razing comedy that replays in my head,
be a friend to my mirror and speak words
into it of my daily routine and workout,
pour out my troubles and cry out loud for it
to pat my shoulders that the future holds
on to my success whenever I’m ready to
bargain the certification of growth.
Here, still remembers when my face
was caged into a canned crispbread to
never spill out the cynosure of food for thought
rather devour it like my daily meal of three
square handful of pouted shaft of food.
And yes I’m a lone wolf like Mami called me.
