Poems by Jalaal A. Raji.
LOVE IS A NOTE ON WHICH YOU REGISTER YOUR SOUL TO BE TAKEN
What remains now of the once bright sky is an afterglow
while every tired body sought the comfort of their home
but here I am with your picture since sunrise
I thought I could forever elude the pretty arrows of Eros
but no one could escape the rain of the taunting arrows
that fall like the thousands of stars in the sky
I shouldn’t have fallen for it; I thought it’ll be a good one
You should’ve let me know it’s never right or safe to play
with sharp objects like arrows, nor with fire
I should’ve remained silent and indifferent to the call
as an imp of a child would have to his parent’s call
for Love’s call is next to death’s own
A day’s been wasted again, and living’s become painful
for you aren’t there to soothe the sores of the wound
caused by those rude arrows in my heart
THREE LIMERICKS
I blame not my shedding leaves
Those that leave without notice
