A MAN IS AN OBSCURE POEM

a man is an obscure
poem
about his god.

in the warmth of my palms
a myth flowers into a fingerless folklore
of skies stretching into the void
from my mangled voice;
a voice whose shushed sigh
is a tutti in a body-less prayer
accorded to gods molded
in the image of hollow hopes.

sometimes
i squat on heaven’s knuckles
outside god’s glowing shadow
& show the sun her way home
with my blistered tongue

sometimes
i seldom find the way
to my own heart
